Amazon.com Product Description
This FR60 bundle (in men's black) includes a foot pod, a USB ANT stick, and a heart rate monitor.

Log every mile and every minute with FR60, a sleek fitness watch plus workout tool that tracks your time, heart rate and calories burned. When bundled with the wireless foot pod (included), FR60 also tracks speed and distance, indoors or out. Use FR60's training tools to get the most out of your workout. Then, FR60 wirelessly sends your workout data to your computer for later analysis.

Garmin FR60 Fitness Watch Bundle (Men's Black)--includes footpod.

Once you've logged the miles, FR60 automatically transfers data to your PC or Mac, wirelessly when in range.

Also available in Men's Red

Train Indoors or Out
In the gym or on the road, FR60 tracks all your workout data, including time, heart rate, calories burned, lap times and averages, and more. FR60 boasts advanced training tools, such as training alarms and Virtual Partner, which lets you race against a virtual training partner to improve your performance.

At the heart of its success is FR60's wireless ANT+ technology, which allows it to connect to other ANT+ compatible devices, like the included heart rate monitorn and foot pod, or even ANT+ compatible fitness equipment.

Go for Distance
With the ANT+ seamless wireless link, FR60 connects to the optional wireless foot pod, which tracks your distance and speed effortlessly, both indoors and out. Using advanced accelerometer technology, the foot pod collects and sends precise data about your movements, gathering distance and speed data that is 98 percent accurate, right out of the box.

Listen to Your Heart
FR60 also connects wirelessly to a lightweight, flexible digital heart rate monitor, providing instant feedback about how hard you're working. FR60 continuously tracks heart beats per minute and displays your heart rate zone, so you can monitor and improve your fitness level.

Cross-Train

When paired with an optional speed/cadence sensor, FR60 tracks the speed and distance of your cycling workouts. The wireless speed/cadence sensor attaches securely to your bike and measures your pedaling cadence and wheel speed as you ride. You can even use it to train indoors because the sensor attaches to your rear wheel.

Sync and Share
Once you've logged the miles, FR60 automatically transfers data to your PC or Mac, wirelessly when in range. No cables, no hookups. The data is just there, ready for you to analyze, categorize and share through our online community, Garmin Connect.

Pick Your Form Factor
Males and females may train alike, but they have different preferences when it comes to watch styling. So, Garmin offers a men’s and women’s version of FR60 that differs only in size and color options. The men’s model, which weighs 1.6 ounces, comes in black (shown here, 010-00743-10) or red on black. The women’s model, at 1.4 ounces, comes in black or lilac.

What's in the Box
FR60, heart rate monitor , USB ANT Stick, Foot Pod (accelerometer), quick start manual, and owners manual on disk

I like Garmin, but the FR60 was not what I wanted. Ordered a 305 and kept it.

5 out of 5 stars Garmin FR60 vs Polar Speed & Distance   August 19, 2010
RSM (far Northern California)
I have been a long time owner/user of the Polar Speed and Distance running gear. I've owned the S625, RS200SD, RS400SD and most recently, the RS800CX RUN. They all worked well and did what I wanted them to do...give me real-time pace information as well as heart rate and average heart rate. In the case of the RS800, the cadence information was useful to me also. The biggest issue I have with Polar is their lack of Mac software. I've waited for years for this feature, and when I saw the Garmin FR60, and took a good look at the specs, I decided to give one a try. The FR60 does everything I want just as well as the Polar RS800CX, and costs less than half as much. The pacing and distance info are every bit as accurate as the Polar (both needed to be calibrated), and the heart rates I am seeing look identical to what I was getting with the same track workouts. The display is, in my opinion, a bit easier to read than the Polar, and the UI for the settings and exercises is much more intuitive. The Garmin foot-pod is significantly smaller than the Polar S3, and although I have not weighed it, I'll bet it's half the weight. I do think the Polar chest strap is more comfortable than the Garmin version.
Finally, the software runs on OSX, and it is simple to upload workouts. If you're looking for a speed & distance heart rate set-up, that will give you accurate real-time pace and cadence (none of the GPS units are very good at this), consider the Garmin FR60....if not, check out my RS800CX on ebay.

1 out of 5 stars Water Resistant? HA!   August 16, 2010

I received the FR60 for Christmas from my husband. For seven months I loved this watch, loved it as a heart rate monitor and loved it as a watch. (I don't run, so I didn't get the foot pad.) I loved being able to upload my time to the Garmin site. I was able to set goals (x number of hours a month of exercise) and see how close to goal I was. I could see my heart rate through an entire workout session, my average HR, my maximum HR, everything.

Then I wore my "resistant to 50 meters" watch in the pool. The shallow end. Water somehow seeped in and ruined the watch. Garmin will be more than happy to replace the watch for $100 because water damage is not covered. Water damage to a watch you're supposed to be able to wear in the water is not covered? I only wore the watch to work out, I never banged it or damaged it in any way.

I'm giving it one star because I think that's ridiculous.

So, if you plan on never getting it wet, maybe this is the watch for you. Or maybe you want something that's higher quality. I won't be replacing it with another Garmin product, you can bet on that.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Runners in training   August 9, 2010
WriterGirl (San Rafael, CA)
I love my Garmin FR60. Be sure to get the one with the foot pod. Mine also came with a heart rate monitor. I checked a bunch of reviews for similar products -- the Nike iPod tracker wasn't the best for runners because it doesn't seem to calculate distance well. One guy said that it calculated he ran a 21-minute mile which wasn't true. Anyway, I love my Garmin! It worked perfect straight out of the box and when I just ran a 3.5 race, my watch matched the mile markers exactly! Also it comes with a wireless USB that you can connect to your computer to download your watch's info. So now I have all my times and days I ran recorded. Even a breakdown of my time of each mile.

I'm training for my first half marathon and this watch is the perfect way to track my distance and times.

2 out of 5 stars Hard to use, big design flaws   August 9, 2010
MJ Hollingsworth (Buffalo, NY United States)

I bought this watch with a GSC10 to use in an indoor cycling class. Although it works ok (well, sort of - see below), the user's manual, which is only available online, is almost impossible to use. It takes multiple button pushes of multiple different buttons just to set the time and even more to actually set the watch to display heart rate, time & cadence. Once programmed it works (mostly), but I just can't recommend this to anyone. It was too much of a hassle, especially given how expensive it is.

In addition, there are several other issues, large & small.

Small complaints:
If you're not running a program, it resets to a default screen - the watch without seconds. Who doesn't want to be able to see seconds????

The user's manual isn't included with the unit. So you either have to zoom back & forth through a pdf or print the whole sucker out.

With the GSC10, if you don't get the magnet quite right on the pedal, you'll get 2X rpms. But it's obvious that it's off & pretty easy to divide by 2 on the fly.

Large complaints:
The user manual is beyond horrible.

If you update the watch software, you lose everything - the time, the date, all the programs that you've put in. Since the unit is so difficult to program & the user's manual so obtuse, it's a real pain to put all that information back in.

It will not calculate calories if you're using the cadence meter (GSC10). If the meter isn't on, calories-burned (assuming you've figured out how to program to see them) will display. If the cadence meter is transmitting rpms to the watch, then calories show up as zero. I've checked with the company - this is a design flaw that they do not intend to fix.

The bottom line for people like me who'd like to use this for an indoor cycling class is that if you have figured out how to run the programming, then it's possible to see heart rate, cadence, and time-elapsed while you're taking an indoor cycling class. That's pretty cool, but it doesn't make up for the hassles.
