My Garmin suction cup bit the dust so I came across this one at a big box retailer but they wanted about twice the price as Amazon.com so I naturally ordered from Amazon. Works great and is really well made. I think I could hang a bowling ball from this thing!

We tried to mount to windshield, the suction cup would not hold, tried several times. We held GPS through trip!! JUNK

I bought this mount based on Gray Geezer Man's review and am very happy with the mount. Thank you! I paired the Bracketron Low Pro Windshield mount with the Glisson beanbag mount like he did. The suction cup on the Bracketron Low Pro is about 3 inches in diameter; much bigger than the mounts that come with most GPS units and thus much more powerful. I am using the Magellan Maestro 4700; I cannot comment on how this would work with a Garmin. However, Garmin makes their own dedicated dashboard mounts that would probably be better than this set up.
For me, the square shape of the Glisson bean bag fits on the dashboard snugly against the dashboard cowl (think diamond orientation with one corner pointed at the windshield) much better than the round Bracketron bean bag nav-mat. I keep a rectangular plastic container (no lid) that I just put the entire assembly (Magellan Maestro 4700, Bracketron Low Pro, Glisson Beanbag, and power cable) in and put in my trunk to keep it out of sight and protected when not in use.
